Mortons was established in the late 19th Century and has been a permanent fixture of Sunderland City Centre ever since. In 2011 we expanded our operations to Seaham. We have a highly specialised and dedicated department dealing with all aspects of Family and Matrimonial Law. Our team includes members of the Law Society's Children Law and Accreditation Scheme and Resolution. They all are highly skilled in their areas of practice. In addition to undertaking work on a privately paying basis, we hold a Legal Aid Agency Contract in Family and Matrimonial Law.
We are a long established firm of local solicitors - not claims handlers unlike many advertising in the area of Civil Litigation/Personal Injury claims. This means that from the moment you decide to proceed through Mortons you will have direct contact with the firm handling your claim. Would just like to point out that my ex partner used Morton Solicitors (David Ashman). He and her would send me letters telling me that I could only have access to my son if I agreed that my current partner would not be in contact with my son while in my care. The reason for this was they said, they claimed they had evidence that my partner was a safeguarding risk towards my son.
I knew that this was complete false and asked for this "evidence" but not once did they provide any. I had to deal with this for six months and agreeing to their terms just to have access to my son. During this time I was in the process of awaiting a Child Arrangement Order through the courts and when it finally ended in court between me and my ex partner David did not attend himself but sent a colleague and the evidence he also tried to use against me was actually fabricated by my ex partner and I would like to think a solicitor could spot something that is actually evidence to something that is completely made up. My partner had safeguarding and Police checks completed by the courts on her that came back with absolutely nothing.
