We used Stevens Son and Pope for conveyancing on both sale of a house and purchase of a flat. They have been professional and courteous throughout. The lady conducting the conveyancing has been exceptional. Never felt rushed, questions fully answered, sound advice given, helpfull and friendly. The perfect service and a pleasure to work with.

We decided to use Stevens Son & Pope for probate. They were very slow, gave us conflicting advice and generally made the whole process very complicated when it should have been so straight forward. Ended up doing most of the work and chasing the probate office ourselves. Complete waste of money and we would have been much better off if we had handled the whole thing on our own.
Their receptionist acts as if she doesn't know who you are even if you phone and state your name 50 times a day. For 2,500 they've essentially filled in a form, sent it in the post and done nothing else. Even when probate finally arrived which they knew was time critical, they sent the original probate via first class post! 2,500 and they didn't even post it via special delivery! A complete shambles.

Stevens Son and Pope were instructed to carry out the most straight forward conveyance of a property title. Despite having the stamp duty money in hand for a month they failed to pay a penalty letter was received from the HRMC. Despite their assurances, following internal buck passing, that all was in hand a further penalty notice was received a month later. Having eventually contacted HMRC myself I was told their records showed no stamp duty received.
I would advise anyone to avoid Stevens Son and Pope in property matters and for that matter if my experience is indicative of their general lacksadaisical approach to instructions avoid using them completely
