For most people, the buying of a new home, or the selling their existing home can be one of the most stressful times of their life. Apparently only divorce comes higher. Our residential property team understands this. They also understand the importance of communicating with everyone involved in the process, of acting quickly so there are no delays and most importantly, in providing a value for money service.
When someone close to you dies, somebody has to deal with their "estate". A person's estate is considered to be made up of the money, property and any possessions they had at the time of their death. The process of Probate involves collecting any money that is owed, settling any debts due (including outstanding taxes) and dividing the estate amongst the respective beneficiaries.
Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs): In 1985, the Enduring Powers of Attorney Act made it possible to appoint a person or persons of your own choosing to administer your affairs in the event of mental incapacity. The Mental Capacity Act replaced Enduring Powers of Attorney with Lasting Powers of Attorney which came into effect in 2007.
Whether you are considering a takeover, buyout or merger with another company, there are a whole range of legal and administrative issues which need to be addressed. The complexities of the process and uncertainty of the deal actually going through, can make this a rather stressful and daunting time.
A recent survey has shown that more than one in ten people who are thought to have died intestate i.e. When dealing with an estate, an increasing problem for executors is the valuation of assets in the form of the chattels of the deceased. In probate terminology, chattels are the 'everyday' assets such as furniture and ordinary possessions, as.

We have just moved house with the support of the wonderful conveyancing team at Charles Hill Hubbard. They have acted for us on a number of property transactions over the past 30 years and yet again they have been extremely professional, super responsive, incredibly supportive and simply a pleasure to deal with. We recommend them highly. Thank you very much Dominic and Sam.

We used Charles Hill Hubbard for our recent house sale in the Chichester area and they were excellent throughout. Dominic and his team kept us fully informed all through the process, and they were quick in responding to us and very efficient in all our dealings. This enabled us to complete on a tricky sale with a long chain during a Pandemic all within 4 months - which was absolutely outstanding. They were very good value to boot and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

We were recommended to CHH by an estate agent for property purchase just over year ago. I could not believe the negative reviews I saw here as they do not at all reflect our really positive experience. Our solicitor, Dominic, was absolutely brilliant and he and his team worked hard to complete the purchase in 6 weeks from start to finish at a fixed quoted fee which we thought very reasonable.
It was all quite straightforward and went through quickly but I think that if solicitors undertake work you instruct them to do they are entitled, like any other professional, to be paid for the work done and time spent even if a sale does not complete. We found them very efficient, friendly, responsive and extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend.

I'm being kind in rating this firm with one star. If it were possible to post a review with zero stars - that would have been my rating for them. I had an extremely disappointing experience with CHH. It's rather disconcerting when a law firm threatens litigation against their own (former) clients. Beware! If you recruit this firm to handle your home purchase, and the process is aborted - you will land up being slapped with a full bill.
And be prepared for threat of legal action if you don't cough up. There are many law firms out there who offer a 'no completion, no fee' offer. This is not one of them! Think twice before signing up!

Engaged this company for what was originally to be a straightforward purchase of a property. Things then became complicated and, almost overnight, it all seemed to become too much for my solicitor at this company. I received a rude and patronising email which, when I called their office to try and resolve the situation, was then followed by a terse demand for an apology.
I was then left with the choice: stick with this solicitor and see through this complicated property purchase or start afresh with a new solicitor. Imagine my surprise when I called CHH a couple of days later for an update when my solicitor announced that, after a conversation with his colleagues, he was, in effect, firing me. I think that, as far as client / company relationships go, this has to be a first! I have to give one star as I can't post this review otherwise - but best read this as a '0' star review.
