This is a company my ex wife used to sort out the break up of the family home, Duncan at Woking branch seems to be extremely useless with his communication and replying to a simple email, if not sometimes rude A very simple process that has so far taken 6 months for them to sort out. Personally speaking to my ex wife she is saying that she can never get in contact with any one And gets no response to email. Useless law firm personally I would never use them To even sort out a parking ticket dispute.

So unbearably slow. And today they have the audacity to email me a letter poorly explaining why there is a further delay. and the letter is dated MAY 2020! We received the letter today (Late March 2021). To be clear, this is the only correspondence I can recall having from them over at least the last 6 months. it could even be as long 9 months. I'm shocked. Look elsewhere

The facts about Barlow Robbins: 1. David Ludlow (partner in Barlow Robbins) told me that my case would cost me 20-30,000 and take 2-18 months. I am then informed, when I am 2/3 through my case, that my costs will be c100,000 and about 80,000 for the defendant should I lose. It is also 3 and 1/2 years since I registered with Barlow Robbins. 2. Two duplicate charges (1,218 and 1,218.74 + VAT) were added to one of my invoices. 3. 2,400 I paid to Barlow Robbins for the barrister was used to offset one of my bills. (This is against Client Money Regulations).

I only discovered this when Barlow Robbins told me, quite rudely, that the barrister was still waiting for me to pay him. 4. I waited 2 years for an over payment of 200 to be refunded to me. 5. 1,250 + VAT invoice, as payment for a Costs Draughtsman, was sent to me with my final bill on 22 May. David Ludlow (DL) said that it should have been 1,485 but as a 'gesture of goodwill' it was capped at 1,250. 5a. DL later admitted that this invoice was in fact for work done for Barlow Robbins.

Credit note issued for 1,500 but no apology given 6. Charged 20 months late, after a court hearing, for travel expenses. 6a. Charged travel expenses for a trainee of BR. 7. Charged for internal emails/tel calls. Example: a. Barrister's office rings junior solicitor (I am charged 13.50 + VAT). b. She relays the information to another solicitor (I am charged 13.50 + VAT). c.

He reads it (I am charged another 20 + VAT). 8. BR emails me an appointment date and time (I am charged 18 + VAT). 8a. I confirm this appointment (I am charged another 18 + VAT). 9. I (being polite) inform BR that I have paid money into their account. I am charged 18 + VAT for this email. 10. I am charged 72 + VAT for 4 emails in which I am querying an invoice. 11.

At a meeting with David Ludlow in September 2018, to discuss an invoice, he tells me that I am a 'low paying client'. I had at this stage paid over 40,000. 12. Despite Barlow Robbins disputing that they gave me only one day's official notice that they would no longer represent me, that is what happened. The reason? I was too critical of them! 13. A 50% Conditional Fee Agreement (discount) was withdrawn on the flimsiest of reasons and I was told that I had to pay back the 50% discount.

This amounted to thousands of pounds. 14. Still waiting, after 4 months and several requests, for Barlow Robbins to give me a breakdown of my 5,000 that they are holding. They refuse to give me this breakdown. No idea why. Read this for a muddle: a) Charged and paid 205 for a court fee b) Later told that it should have been 255 so I pay the additional 50. c) On final bill I am told that the 205 WAS correct but that another court fee for 255 had not been added to the invoice, so I now had to pay this additional amount.

The above is only a small sample of my problems with Barlow Robbins. In addition to sending me a credit note for 1,500 they have offered to reimburse me just under 7,000 (incl VAT) which I have declined. Most of my complaint they have not looked in to. The matter is now registered with the Legal Ombudsman.

A legal firm that genuinely cares about its clients and who are passionate about achieving the right outcome. For anyone who has never had to use a lawyer before and is a bit daunted by the process (like I was) I'd highly recommend Barlow Robbins.
