Mitchells was founded in 1936 by George F Mitchell. He was succeeded by his son, Geoffrey Mitchell, who entered the firm in 1949 and retired in the early 1990's. The firm is now headed by Philip Chapman. Our lawyers specialise in their own individual areas of the law, so that we can offer you an extensive experience and specialised knowledge whatever your legal requirements. We appreciate that consulting with Lawyers can be difficult, particularly when you are faced with a relationship breakdown or the death of a loved one.

If not and if you are a relative or a dependant of the Deceased you may be entitled to make a claim. Although in England and Wales a person can leave his Estate to whomever he chooses this is subject to the right to claim reasonable financial provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
To make plans to protect the interests of yourself and your family both during your lifetime and after your death, you should make a Lasting Power of Attorney. This will give your relative or friend power to manage your affairs or make decisions during your lifetime if you become unable to look after them yourself through mental or physical incapacity.
Mitchells Solicitors can provide advice to employers and employees on all aspects of Employment Law. Awards for unfair dismissal can be as high as 72,300 (From 01.02.2012). For discrimination cases there are no limits. In practice most awards are much more modest. The calculation is compensation can be quite complicated.
Celia is an associate Solicitor with over 20 years' experience in Conveyancing. Celia has been working in this area since she qualified and has helped hundreds of families and individuals. Incompetence at the highest level! Nigel Harbinson and others unhappy at losing thousands - look at SRA compaint asap! Contact Solicitor's Disciplinary Tribunal to find out about Mr Chapman's misconduct in 2010. He was made to pay about 22000 total in fines/compensation for similar. 1. Whilst acting under a Registered Power of Attorney the Respondent provided a service to his client that was so poor as to amount to professional misconduct, in breach of Practice Rule 1 of the Solicitors Practice Rules 1990 ("the SPR"); 2. Whilst acting as Co-Executor of the Estate of the same client the Respondent provided a service so poor as to amount to misconduct in breach of Rule 1 of the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007 ("the SCC") in that he failed to deal timeously or at all with a complaint raised by his Co-Executor; and 3. The Respondent failed to comply with the duty to co-operate with the Legal Complaints Service in breach of Rule 20.05 of the SCC I hope this helps.

I've been dealing with the Mitchells Solicitors over the last 20 months in regards to Inheritance dispute, and then a house sale. Both Philip Chapman and Celia Earley were absolutely brilliant throughout, providing me with a constant support, and gaining a great result in the end. I'm really happy I've used their services. True professionals. Alex K.

I recently used Mitchells for a house sale and could not be more satisfied. Celia Early was my appointed Solicitor who was always contactable by phone and responded almost immediately to emails. I asked Celia for complete & exchange within an ambitious 6 weeks and she achieved this. I will be using Mitchells & Celia in the future and can highly recommend them.

My post was and is honest in my opinion working with Mr Chapman sole partner., unfortunately I was stuck under a lay firm on the net, stuck for 2 years. I was demanded by him and intimidated to take my past review down down, his conduct was appalling and I would never recommend his service to anyone, I know my rights now, so check out all solicitors regulation conduct under the SRA I advise, and you would not have been in my position, I believe.
Good Luck. Mr Chapman, refused to give me a professional, and adequate of last 6 years, despite in my opinion should be the norm, and also his gross misjudgements of my cases, were highly incompetent, and noted by other s. His unprofessional conduct on many occasions including strong manipulation and coercion attempts were noted by other professionals also. The worst solicitor I have ever come across, causing me extreme concerns about his abilities, and causing me great angst. Bullying was not acceptable.

Our sale and purchase were dealt with in a calm professional manner, our questions and worries answered without delay and the whole process was without problems for us. Although staffing issues were causing headaches for the Firm, we were not inconvenienced. Delighted to recommend Celia Earley as your convenancer and if you want a traditional Solicitor, thats what Mitchells do best.
