Called in there today as needed my driving licence certified. I am a disabled lady, this man was so rude asking why I couldn't walk up the steep stairs to the office, he said you walked in here ok, I told him my mobility scooter was outside which it was but I could not do those stairs, he rudely asked why? I explained because I will fall. Couldn't get driving licence verified as understandably the picture is old and he was quite abrupt saying he needed more evidence.
Of course I have all that at home and had he of been a pleasant man I would have gone back on Monday. I have an invisible disability and come across people like this in shops with their rude comments regarding my mobility scooter and age. I did not expect this from a so called professional person. Extremely upset by his ignorance and the way I was spoken too, thanks for the added anxiety I really need that! UPDATE Well he has just proved how nasty he is, stating my personal information on here.
I never once disagreed that I didn't need other documents to prove who I was and have since been to another solicitor (without an appointment) with all relevant documents and was seen and documents verified. What I was saying was his totally unprofessional manner, his whole attitude to me not being able to do stairs was appalling and his unprofessional approach can clearly be seen by his response to my earlier review.
I never once stated he mentioned my age, I was using an example. Instead of being nasty and giving out details that are not relevant. He could have actually have apologised for his attitude and therefore showed better character. I would ask that you remove your post regarding where I have or have not lived as that was never an issue or the need for more records, I perfectly understood that, I am disabled not stupid!

Terrible terrible service. This guy was even too lazy to get up to get a law book off the shelf in his office and asked me fetch it for him. He did not know the law regarding my case and was arrogant and wrong about several things he told me which caused further problems. I am glad I got out and went to McGregors early on. Avoid this guy at all costs.

I am not shocked to see these reviews. Mark was an appalling help at a horrendous police case I had a few years ago. I was accused of having 'a vicious tongue and along with his reason for losing my case was that I did not see my family! (Mark was aware of my reasons for not wishing to see my family and those reasons were highly justified. ) Even now years later I am still reeling at how I was treated by Mark Matthews.
Mark also makes rude personal comments which are highly intimidating such as 'was I wearing a black bra and knickers under my black work dress'! This was said at a meeting I had with him one day in his office. I regret deeply using this solicitor to fight a very tough and highly unjust criminal case that resulted in police misconduct which Mark himself had confirmed he knew about as he himself believed the police were covering things up but he kept stum about, when faced with a court judge and the CPS.
Mark then asked for more money from me to defend this case as I wanted to furthermore; stating that I apparently wanted to make a cake without buying the ingredients! He knew my situation at the time and I could not understand why he wanted more money yet in another way he believed I would go to prison if I challenged this case. He stated that if I had appealed it I would have gone to prison!
This was a serious case of myself being victimised by a vicious gang of individuals renting houses in my neighbourhood, who were harassing and intimidating me on a daily basis. Thanks to Mark Matthews and his unprofessional conduct and incompetency, I had to leave my own home that I HAD OWNED FOR SEVENTEEN YEARS! for a period of three months with PETS AND NOWHERE TO GO! as Mark was incapable of managing this case.
He then informed me at the end that my case was ' A HOWLER OF A CASE!' He laughed and stated he'd forgotten the names of the involved even! Cheers Mark! I am still fighting this and I would love the letter back from the MP about the police defending ' a sensitive case!' THESE COMMENTS ARE COMPLETELY TRUE AND MARK SEEMS TO DENY A LOT OF HIS BAD REVIEWS! IT IS REALLY BAD WHEN YOU RELY ON A SOLICITOR AS YOU FIND YOURSELF IN SHOCKING SITUATIONS AND YOU DO NOT EXPECT UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT OF SUCH A LOW LEVEL AND NOW THE DENIALS OF THE BEHAVIOUR JUST MAKE YOU LOOK WORSE MARK. CLEARLY I AM NOT ALONE THOUGH IN MY EXPERIENCES WITH THIS MAN AND AT THE TIME I FOUND HIS REMARKS VERY STRANGE BUT I WAS TOO FAR DOWN THE LINE WITH THE CASE TO CHANGE SOLICITORS.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. rude, abusive, unprofessional, lazy and personally offensive. My friend used this poor excuse of a solicitor because he was local, he failed to turn up to court appearances, didn't pass on paperwork, refered it to the worst barrister ever who also failed to show or turned up late. Mark had 5 emails from an official probation officer and failed to respond with a copy of a report which was needed for a court case.
He was physically threatening to myself (a 27yr old disabled woman) when i attended a meeting at his office, banging his fist on the desk and raising his voice. I then contacted him on the day of my friends sentencing because I needed some important information, i spoke to his secretary who said he would call me back because he was in a meeting and now 7 months later I am still waiting. Overall the worst excuse of a human being let alone a solicitor I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. God knows how he is still in business!

The most offensively rude and unprofessional solicitor I have ever met. My girlfriend needed to use a solicitors to bare witness to a signature when she had unwanted advice forced upon her even though she had on several occasions not asked for any advice. Mr Matthews then preceded to present her with highly inappropriate hypothetical scenarios and made several sexual references.
Initially I called up and spoke to Emma. Emma made out that it would cost 10.00 to witness a signature. She clearly told me it would be with herself until my girlfriend actually arrived and the meeting was actually with the inappropriate sloth Mr Matthews
