Alistair joins the firm which would become Heseltine Bray & Welsh in 1982, qualifying as a solicitor two years later. He became a partner n 1987 and is now Senior Director and is in charge of the conveyancing department. Alistair has served as President of Barnsley Law Society. He has played for Barnsley Cricket Club and remains a keen cricket fan.
Your home is a major financial investment. This is why moving house is a major transaction and why, when you have agreed a price on the home you want, you cannot simply hand the owner a cheque and then move in. The agreement drawn up when the property changes hands must be absolutely watertight. This whole process is called Conveyancing.
When someone dies leaving a Will, the process by which that person's property is collected and distributed according to the terms of the Will is called Probate. When, however, a person dies without leaving a Will, the process by which that person's assets are collected in and distributed is called Administration.
The service given has been very good and helpful during the purchases and very supportive to ourselves. Unfortunately we did not have a positive experience with Heseltine Bray and Welsh. My father passed away in January and had previously done his Will and Power of Attorney with the company. I contacted them to ask about the next steps (I was sole executor and age 28, I'd never been through the process before). My brothers and I felt like a burden to them when we asked our questions via email or over the phone, and when we went into the offices for the Will reading it was a very cold welcome from the staff.
The only redeeming aspect was our conversation with the solicitor who read our Dad's Will, though I believe she was a temporary member of staff. Overall I wouldn't recommend their services to those who want to write a Will.

I have had a few experiences with various solicitors & I have never been as happy as I have been with these guys. Robyn helped me sell my previous property & helped with the purchase of our new property, these were 2 separate cases & both times I have been so happy with the service! She is very responsive & replied very quickly to my emails (there was alot of them), she kept me up to date at every stage & she dealt with everything so quickly & prompt. The estate agents even commented on how quickly she had arranged everything. I will never use any other solicitors. Thank you Robyn for all your help!

We honestly couldn't praise Robyn at HBW enough! As first time buyers we needed every bit of help we could get and from a friend's recommendation went with Heseltine Bray and Welsh for purchasing our home. It certainly wasn't easy circumstances mid pandemic but still Robyn was so quick, helpful and informative every step of the way ensuring any questions or concerns we had were answered, we had guidance through the paperwork and most importantly we moved in to our home in plenty of time. We are recommending to any of friends who need a property solicitor!

Fantastic experience and great service. I bought a repossession and need to get everything sorted as quickly as possible. Robyn did an amazing job (even my estate agent was surprised how quickly she managed to get everything sorted!) Really good communication. Very responsive. I'm so glad I used them for my purchase, and very competitive pricing as well. Would certainly use them again in future!

Always used HBW for house sales and purchases. Also used them form my will etc. Dealt with David Raybould and Gillian Turner who are both very informative, helpful and a pleasure to do business with. Used HBW for my flat purchase in London following a friend's recommendation. Very helpful and professional sollicitors. They didn't wait for me to chase them or ask them to pursue further studies to undertake them. I am very thankful to them and they did help reduce the stress during a flat purchase! Despite the distance to London I would happily carry out all legal matters with them.
