Hancocks was the Banbury office of Shipston-on-Stour firm, F B Hancock & Co until 1985. F B Hancock & Co was founded in the 19th Century but Hancocks has definitely moved with the times. We are a three partner/eight fee earner private client and commercial practice based in Banbury, Oxfordshire and Brailes, near Shipston.
Hancocks is a friendly firm with a deserved reputation for giving its clients solid and accurate advice. We put our clients first and we always look for solutions that work best for them. As a firm, we have considerable residential and commercial property expertise; collectively, Michael Barlow, Toni Peppard, Siobhan Sibley, Laura Lewis and Andrew Hardcastle have over 100 years' experience.
We are able and willing to deal with matters of all sizes and complexities. Our clients come to us with anything from buying a first home to complex commercial property negotiations. We work with families when relationships break down and assist with will writing and probate. Elderly clients value our specialist skills as Solicitors for the Elderly.
If you need someone to help you with any legal work relating to your home or planning for the future, you can talk to one of our private client solicitors. At Hancocks, we separate this from family law. When you are buying a home, you'll need to talk to our residential conveyancing solicitors. You will find they are knowledgable and helpful.

Very disappointed. Had previously used this company for many concerns including business and conveyancing but wishing to write new will I was fobbed of to a secretary who despite several telephone calls ignored me for over a week without even the courtesy of an acknowledgement. This is not the professional response I expect.

I am currently moving house. My buyers solicitors are using Hancocks. All I have heard for weeks from my estate agent and my solicitor is that we're very close to exchanging contracts but that Hancocks are impossible to get hold of. They are obstructing yet another sale (we already lost one buyer and 1,000's due to them dragging their heels with my previous buyer). Response: I have forwarded you response to my solicitor but from what I gather she struggles to make contact with you. Please call her ASAP.

Dear Conveyancing team, I am selling a flat to one of your clients. Despite the best efforts of him, myself, my solicitor, the estate agent and the sales processing team, no-one from your conveyancing team has responded to the multiple attempts to contact you over the last 2 weeks. The sale is ready to complete and you are now causing a great deal of stress and consternation to all parties involved. Please get in touch with me immediately.

Basically looking to move house and during the process the other party's solicitor raised several issues that would have cost me tens of thousands of pounds in insurance indemnities (I think I am using that phrase correctly) Hancocks successfully argued that the costs should have been covered by my previous solicitor who never raised it when I bought the house.
So thankful as I'd never have been able to afford my new house if I'd had to pay those costs. Amazing service diligence and customer service. Definitely had my best interests at heart.
