If you have been involved in a road traffic accident that was not your fault then you may be entitled to compensation. Even if the driver at fault is not insured or cannot be traced then you may have a claim against the Motor Insurers Bureau which is a government scheme set up to compensate the victims of negligent uninsured and untraced motorists.

If you have been injured as a result of tripping over a raised paving slab or other defect in the footpath or other public place then you may be entitled to compensation. In order to succeed in a claim for damages it is necessary to show that the defect presented a "tripping hazard". The guidelines suggest that the defect has to measure at least one inch and it is also necessary to show that the defect had been present for some time and should have been detected by the local authority during the course of their regular inspections.
