I used Devonshires on a no win no fee basis. Unfortunately, it soon became apparent that they did not appear to be progressing my claim effectively or providing me with information and I seemed to be doing more work on the claim than they were. I was forced to make a formal complaint to the firm, but this was not (and has never been) adequately answered or addressed, their fees and costs appear to be grossly disproportionate to the really low settlement I was offered and told to accept. I have made repeated request for a full breakdown but I have not received a reply. I am completely dissatisfied with the firm's handling of my case.

Negligent and untrustworthy firm! Instructed by senior partner Philip Barden, in a shocking breach of GDPR legislation, head of medical negligence dept Nick Grant emailed my personal and confidential data to more than 100 people - yet to be identified to me. Currently being investigated internally and I will update my review with more details accordingly. __________________ 6 Nov 2019: The below response from Devonshires is not correct.
In fact I replied to Philip Barden on 20 October. As yet I have had no response. 27 January 2020: Still no response - and flat out refusals to provide documentation requested under my SARs (complaint going to the ICO). Furthermore, no sign of the 'substantial financial claims' I am supposedly facing after Devonshires' letter before action of 23 Sept '19 (read below).
In fact, I consulted with an experienced defamation lawyer two months ago, and was strongly advised to send a detailed complaint to the SRA, along with some of the firm's internal documents evidencing shocking and serious breaches of the regulatory authority's Standards and Regulations, plus recordings of meetings I had with Grant and Barden (unequivocally highlighting their lies), and statements from a number of their No Win No Fee clients bullied into accepting settlements they're unhappy with.* Time consuming, but I won't let Philip Barden get away with his attempts to bully and discredit me with blatant lies. *If Devonshires deny this then they must argue that my comment is libelous, and I look forward to hearing from them soon, when I will update my review.
And for the avoidance of doubt, I have no 'hate campaign' against Devonshires, they simply disgust me: ambulance chasers who have zero compassion or genuine concern for the many irreparably damaged people they represent, only interested in their fees! (G Norman's recent review allegedly written by Devonshires to up their Google ratings!)

I am more than a little surprised by some of the responses to reviews I see below, as it is very hard to tell if someone has or has not been a client through a Google user name. I am also disappointed that Devonshires do not seem inclined to reply to my complaint emails concerning alleged uninvited scrutiny of closed Facebook groups. I would also like to clarify the information I was verbally supplied with regarding success fees.
I am curious as to why equivalent cases dealt with by other firms seem to result in settlements considerably larger than those obtained by Devonshires. Following litigation, I am now left feeling disgruntled and with the suspicion that with more effort it would have been possible to achieve a better, more definitive outcome. And I have to add, Devonshires current behaviour does them no credit.

I wouldnt use devonshire solitiors as i feel i had been took for a ride. I was told my claim would take around 18 months and went on for nearly 4years. I had 3 of them take on my case all 3 was telling me wrong thing and saying i wont be treated the same as a paying client. My case was strong but after nearly 4years into my claim devonshires told me to take a low low offer as i will lose my case in court.
What a waste of time this case was going no were other than make money for themselves i beleave devonshires are doing this to many clients and should be investigated. Im still suffering today and getting wose but i can no longer ask others to take my case on as devonshires in there eyes closed the claim. So if your thinking using devonshires id think again it be your loss. Also devonshires solitiors should sit back take in to what there doing to ill clients with there lies.

I have been dealing with Devonshires and, in particular, Philip Barden for almost two decades now. I have been treated wonderfully, my family have received support above and beyond anything I could ever have expected and a service that made me feel Philip and his assistants and barristers were on a personal crusade for me alone. I can never thank Devonshires sufficiently for the work they have done for me, for the representation I received and the way they undertook all my cases and gave their all and more in every aspect of their work for me. Anyone fortunate enough to be represented by Devonshires and to have a Philip on board can be secure in the knowledge that they could not be in better hands.
