ILPA's board of directors is its committee of trustees which is elected annually by the membership. All members of the committee of trustees are members of ILPA. All ILPA's work is carried out by its members, supported by the staff of the secretariat. The trustees of ILPA are voted for by the membership and elections take place around the Annual General Meeting each year in November.
Joining ILPA is your chance to get involved alongside leading practitioners, in improving the quality of immigration advice and representation and in influencing the development of the law. ILPA membership is open to those who are substantially engaged or interested in the law. Those giving advice and representation must be regulated by a recognised professional body, with a code of conduct and the power to discipline its members. Full details are set out in Articles 3 and 4 of ILPA's Articles of Association.
The Immigration Law Practitioners' Association (ILPA) is a professional association and registered charity, the majority of whose members are barristers, solicitors, advocates and OISC regulated advisers practising in all aspects of immigration, asylum and nationality law. Academics, non-governmental organisations and individuals with a substantial interest in the law are also members.
